About BOB Clerk to Officer Scale I Promotion

Bank of Baroda (BOB) conducts an annual promotion exercise under the Settlement on Policy for Promotion from Clerical to Officers' Cadre. The promotion elevates confirmed clerical employees to Officer Scale I (Junior Management Grade / JM-I) through an online written test followed by a structured interview.

Unlike SBI's channel structure, BOB's promotion has a notably shorter and more focused exam — just 60 marks across two subjects — with JAIIB and CAIIB directly reducing the minimum service requirement for eligibility. The exam covers BOB-specific products, internal guidelines, and digital banking — not general banking theory.

Note: The 2025 promotion exam was held on 22 November 2025. The 2026-27 cycle notification has not yet been released. Based on past cycles, expect the notification in October 2026 and exam in November 2026. This page will be updated when the official circular is issued.

JAIIB / CAIIB advantage: Clearing JAIIB reduces the minimum service requirement from 7 years to 4 years for non-graduates. How to Prepare for BOB Promotion Exam 2026–27

🏦

Focus on BOB-specific products and internal guidelines

40 of the 60 marks are from BOB's own products, guidelines, and banking operations — not general banking theory. Study BOB's internal circulars, retail loan products (Baroda Home Loan, Baroda Personal Loan, Baroda Car Loan), and MSME lending policies.

💻

Master BOB's digital channels and technology stack

20 marks come from Digital Banking & Banking Technology — BOB World (mobile app), internet banking, UPI, NACH, IMPS, CBS operations, and IT security practices. Stay current with BOB's technology updates and digital banking circulars.

📚

Clear JAIIB — it may unlock your eligibility

If you are a non-graduate without JAIIB, you need 7 years of service. Clearing JAIIB reduces this to 4 years. The November 2026 JAIIB exam is your best window before the 2026-27 promotion cycle begins. Start JAIIB prep →

🎯

Prepare for the interview from day one

The interview carries 25 marks (All India) or 20 marks (Seniority) — a meaningful share of the total score. Practise answering questions on banking current affairs, BOB's performance metrics, your branch targets, and leadership scenarios. Interview preparation is not an afterthought.
